OEM and private-label programme

Keling builds hospital beds under other companies' brands: custom headboards, specified colours, branded bed heads and printed packaging, produced on the same ISO 13485 lines as our own range.

What OEM means here

"OEM" covers a wide spectrum, and it is worth being precise about which part of it you need, because the cost and lead-time consequences are very different.

Private label — our existing bed, your brand. Branding on the bed head, your logo on the packaging, your document set. This is the fastest and cheapest route; it adds almost nothing to lead time.

Cosmetic customisation — our frame and mechanism, your appearance. A different headboard and footboard design, a specified RAL colour instead of our standard finish, different side rails. Keling already produces the KL-BC103-A and KL-BC104-A as alternative visual designs of existing platforms, so this is routine work.

Engineered variants — changes to dimensions, adjustment ranges, load rating or the drive system. This needs engineering time, new tooling in some cases, and a higher minimum quantity, but it is the route to a genuinely differentiated product.

Full custom development — a bed designed to your specification from the ground up. Possible, but only sensible at real volume.

Why the factory can do this

Two facts from Keling's company profile explain the capability. First, 40% of the 300 employees are specialised technicians — an unusually high ratio for a bed manufacturer, and the reason engineering requests are handled internally rather than pushed to a subcontractor. Second, Keling operates a recognised provincial enterprise technology centre, which is the in-house R&D function that supports the company's National Hi-Tech Enterprise status.

Manufacturing is equally in-house: frame fabrication and welding, powder coating, ABS moulding for headboards and rails, and electrical assembly all happen at the Yangzhou base. That vertical integration is what makes a colour change or a headboard redesign a production decision rather than a supply-chain negotiation.

How a project runs

  1. Brief. Send a drawing, a competitor datasheet, a tender specification or photographs — whatever you have. Tell us the target market, the expected annual volume and the price bracket you need to hit.
  2. Feasibility reply. Within a few working days our engineers confirm what can be built, what it changes in cost and lead time, what tooling is required and what the minimum quantity would be. If something in the brief is a bad idea, we will say so.
  3. Drawings and samples. We produce drawings for approval and then a physical sample. Nothing goes into production before you have held the sample.
  4. Documentation. For your own brand you will normally need your own regulatory route; Keling supplies the technical file content, test data and manufacturing evidence required to support it, and manufactures under ISO 13485 throughout.
  5. Production and inspection. Third-party inspection and your own audits are welcome. Every bed goes through the function test bench before packing.

What to decide before you write to us

The two questions that most often stall an OEM enquiry:

  • Annual volume. Tooling and engineering costs have to be recovered somewhere. A realistic annual number lets us structure that sensibly instead of loading it into a first order.
  • How much of the difference matters. Many buyers ask for engineered changes when private label plus a headboard redesign would achieve the commercial goal at a fraction of the cost and lead time. We would rather help you work that out before the quotation than after.

Send your brief to the export team and we will come back with an honest feasibility assessment.
